Congratulations to Ernest Harden, Jr.!
He received an Emmy Award for his role as best guest appearance on the hit television series “The Pit”. Ernest played the character Louie Cloverfield, who is a patient who untimely dies on the show.
Ernest Harden, Jr. is a child of our church. He grew up in Plymouth UCC and was active in the Sunday School and Youth Ministry as a youth. His mother and father were church leaders, and his sister, Dr. Cheryl Harden, sang in the Senior Choir and occasionally directed it.
Ernest Harden, Jr. spoke at our church last year and was also instrumental in having Denise Nicholas speak here at Plymouth UCC last year, too.
This is a monumental achievement! Ernest was the ONLY BLACK ACTOR in Hollywood to win an Emmy this year besides Octavia Spencer, who won “Outstanding Narrator” for the investigative true crime series “Lost Women of Alaska.”
Ernest has been in 60-plus movies, including “White Men Can’t Jump,” “Coming to America,” Three Days of the Condor,” “White Mama.”
We wish Ernest Harden Jr. continued blessings in his acting career!

Annual Church Meeting – Sunday, November 15, 2026 at 11 a.m.
The Church Annual Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, November 15, 2026, at 11 a.m. The agenda will include adopting the 2027 Annual Budget and electing officers. All offices will be put up for nomination. Part of what makes our church great is that each member is entitled to vote, and this is an opportunity for you to consider running for a church office.
Nominations for Church Office
Nominate yourself or someone else to serve the church as an officer. All church officers are elected by members of the congregation. One of the most significant contributions you can make to the church is the contribution of your intellect and time as a church officer.
The election of officers will take place on a Sunday before November 16, 2025 at 11 AM during the Annual Church Meeting. To nominate someone, fill out the form below and place in the offering plate. All nominations for church office must be received by Sunday, November 8, 2026. Church Officers to be voted on at the Annual Church Meeting

Volunteers Needed
Food Ministry
A team of church members distributes free food in partnership with Trader Joe Markets every Sunday from 11 am to 12 noon.

Celebration of Life Committee
Volunteers are needed to help serve meals after funerals for the family and friends of the deceased. There are no regularly scheduled meetings. If you are interested, please call LaTasha Washington at 313-522-7776
